Lyon is one of the largest cities of Europe, but that in turn represents one of the most beautiful cities, Lyon is without doubt, perhaps the second most important city in France after Paris. Traverse its streets is to approach all eras who have traveled here from the ancient Roman Lugdunum, through times of French grandeur, until today, thriving city, business, birth city to see a movie, where the work silk like never before in Europe.
 
Transportation:
The city of Lyon has two airports connected to the city by bus Satobus. Saint Exupery airport is the largest and is located 24 kilometers from the city. We can also take a small train that takes us from the airport to the city.

If you prefer to arrive by train, nothing better to do on the TGV, the French high speed train. Lyon has two stations in the city center, Part Dieu and Perrache, and third as we said before, at the airport. Here is the link and route the TGV.

Lyon is also declared as a World Heritage Site since 1998. It is embraced by the Rhone and Saone rivers, with nearly 2 million people. As I said, walking through its streets is to go a step recognizing our wealth of architectural styles from all eras. Here together in perfect harmony the passing of the centuries by their neighborhoods, their buildings. Lyon have managed to combine this aspect as we start to see now.

We find ourselves in the historic district in the Old Lyon, the Saone and Fourviere hill. Is a neighborhood in the Renaissance style, with beautiful buildings of the time, very well preserved and continuous processes of restoration for over 40 years, the neighborhood of large shops, paved pedestrian streets, hotels, restaurants and attractions. Gadagne visited the house in the street of the same name, today the Museum of City History Museum of the History of the puppet, a beautiful building from the sixteenth century. We are also closer to the auction in 1630, another beautiful French Renaissance building, where business transactions took place at the time. In the Rue de la Bombarde we find Chamari House, another building of the fifteenth century, where you collect all the businesses that made at fairs that came to town. Above all, the Cathedral of Saint Jean, built all their own neighborhood, the Renaissance style.

Because the Old Lyon perfectly we could move to cities such as Florence, city of magic Renaissance Italy. The labyrinth of alleys, inner courtyards of the houses, their shops or typical bouchons (restaurants specializing in the cuisine of the place) and the colorful architecture, we all moved to the Italian Renaissance.

Drawing the outline of the old quarter is Fourviere hill. It dominated the Roman remains, especially in the Gallo-Roman Museum, where we can see the history of ancient Lugnudum. Not far from this museum will visit the Archaeological Park Fourviere, with the remains of the Roman theater. And a little further Fourviere Basilica, where we can provide the best views in town.

Another unique place is the Presqu’île Lyon, wedged between the Rhone and the hill of the Croix-Rousee. It is the commercial center of the city along with the Rue de la Republique and Rue Victor Hugo, streets leading to the Bellecour Square, the most famous square in the city, one of the largest pedestrian Europe. In it we find the most elegant shops and more expensive in the city, colorful restaurants. Near this place we find Saint Martin d’Ainay, one of the rare Roman churches preserved in Lyon.

Terreaux to come now, where are the wonderful opera, Palacio de San Pedro, which now houses the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon, and City Hall. It is a place for the night lionense, especially in the Rue Sainte Catherine, where the majority of pubs in the city. Near here is the Croix-Rousse, place in the nineteenth century, where craftsmen worked on the most important French silk. Most of the buildings in this area were devoted to this ancient weaving craft. Its streets are commonly known as traboules them. Here we also find many restaurants and bars that cook the food in Lyon. Today is a bohemian neighborhood, home to most artists Lyons, about the School of Fine Arts. Also at the Croix-Rousse flagships are the amphitheater and the Jardin des Chartreux.

On the left bank of the Rhone is Part-Dieu et Villeurbanne, financial and business area of the city. It can sit on the terrace of the Restaurant Le Meridien Panoramique, famous for its breathtaking views over the city. Its architecture has nothing to do with the old. Here are the oldest buildings in the late nineteenth century, where we highlight the Hotel Ville de Villeurbanne.

Is south of Lyon Gerland, stadium of the Olympique de Lyon, their campus, and its noisy traffic. There we met the Halle Tony Garnier, a tower built by the renowned architect Tony Garnier, who also is here Urban Museum. And we end our visit in the great Garden Tete D’Or, a beautiful botanical garden where you will find the Museum of Contemporary Art.
