Something that usually tell when one arrives in Cartagena de Indias is why the colors of the Colombian flag, the blue represents the waters that bathe their coasts, yellow symbolizes gold, and red, the blood shed for years clashes. Cartagena is the capital city of the Department of Bolivar in northern Colombia in the Colombian Caribbean region.

History of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia:
In pre-Columbian times was inhabited by Indian warriors of the Carib race, until in June 1533 the madrileño Pedro de Heredia founded Cartagena de Poniente «, to distinguish it from» Cartagena de Levante, in Spain, both with similar bays.
