We continue with the second part … Helsinki of Knowing

Helsinki is a great city for shopping, the city has everything from shopping malls where you can find everything up to the most exclusive boutiques. In our tour of the center came to a main street, Mannerheimintie, this is also full of shops. Going through it leads to a long building which happens to be the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, the source of some controversy because its image does not fit very well with the neoclassical style of the city and therefore is not liked by all Finns.

What to see in Mexico City?

miércoles, abril 13th, 2011

Mexico City is the third largest city in the world after Tokyo and Seoul with nearly 20 million inhabitants with an area of over 60km in diameter. Mexico City, capital of Mexico, was originally built on an island in Lake Texcoco by the Aztecs in 1325 and was known as Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was completely destroyed in 1521 by the Spanish army and then redesigned and rebuilt by the Spanish wanted, without taking into account that the city was on a lake that had dried the Aztecs. In 1524 the name of the city changed and it was in 1585 when the city was renamed Mexico City.

What to see in Stockholm?

lunes, abril 11th, 2011

Stockholm is a wonderful city to see and know, we started our little trip in the port of Helsinki to follow the path of the Baltic and visit Stockholm. To reach the capital of Sweden took the ferry. The journey takes about 16 hours on the road you will see gay tourists (mostly domestic) to take their carts with liters and liters of alcoholic beverages. The alcohol in the Scandinavian countries are burdened with taxes that many people avoid the duty free shopping on the ferries.

Something similar happens with the Helsinki-Tallinn line, a trip that Finns take to go to a «visit» must-see at the supermarket and that only lasts a couple of hours and allowed to fill the pantry. See these people leaving the ferry with their «trolleys» full of beer invited to think they have a serious problem «alcoholic» but for them to take large jugs of beer is normal. (más…)

More and more tourists are attracted by the beauty of the various Baltic capitals to know all the wonders of these parts of Europe. Many European tourists have traveled via ferry visiting Helsinki, St.

Petersburg and Stockholm on the same trip, but the problem with these trips is that we can see reality, we can not enjoy this jewel washed by the Baltic Sea in peace and we have to go, like a Formula 1 race they were, all the streets of the old without being able to calm down a second. This is a problem, so people who want to enjoy this World Heritage city prefer to visit Tallinn for at least two days to enjoy its beauty. (más…)

What to do in Johannesburg?

viernes, abril 1st, 2011

Johannesburg, Jozi or Jo’burg (as it is known to South Africans) is one of the most important cities in South Africa, the true economic center. However, few people know the origins of Johannesburg. This great city was born when the explorers by 1880 Boers (descendants of Dutch settlers) found a gold vein about 400km from what is now Johannesburg. Later, around 1890 more gold veins found in what today is the current city’s financial district, from that moment, the town became a city full of miners who came out with the dream of finding gold and become rich. Its name comes from the general inspector of the area, Johannes Rissik.
