City of Edinburgh From Scotland

City of Edinburgh is located between the Pentland Hills and the estuary of the Fort, a situation that gives the visitor a view of the arrival surprising and different from any cardinal.
Includes everything you expect from a big business, that is concentrated in a relatively small space. Its location is quite odd because it is a couple of miles of sea between seven or eight hills of volcanic origin.
The sea is actually a river is known as the Firth of Forth (Firth is Forth estuary in Scotland and is the name of the river that flows there.) If you have time it’s worth approaching the railway bridge that crosses the old kingdom of Fife. Is about fifteen kilometers from the center and was built by an engineer contemporary Eifel which came to his inauguration.

At first glance, is the Edinburgh Castle at the top of Royal Mile and the crater of an extinct volcano. Is very near the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the home of Scottish kings. Many legends of murder, ghosts and witches are circulating in these buildings and many others.

Edinburgh is a city rebuilt on ancient and discover the surprising stories that have happened that in those places. Dare!

Weather in Edinburgh:
Temperate oceanic climate, relatively moist with frequent fog in winter. Rainfall is abundant, particularly in autumn and winter, especially in the western mountains (up to 4000 ml in the Scottish Highlands and 2,000 in Wales). Temperatures are mild in winter and cooler in summer. Ranging between 16 º C in July and 4 º C in January.

Edinburgh International Airport is located approximately 8 miles from downtown. There are frequent air services that fly direct to Edinburgh from many destinations in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Another alternative is the Glasgow International Airport (50 miles from Edinburgh) that has many direct flights to Europe and North America. There are frequent buses from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

The George Hotel, recently renovated, is located in the heart of Edinburgh and offers easy access to most major attractions in the city, including the castle, the town center and other attractions.
The location, right in the center of everything is the best area, the Royal Mile is very sad and very dark at night. The pub is opposite the Dome Hotel is a pass, especially with Christmas decorations

Old Waverley Hotel
The Old Waverley Hotel is situated on the famous Princes Street, close to all attractions. Many rooms have splendid views of Edinburgh Castle.

The Number Ten is a central Georgian house that offers individual suites. Situated in an exclusive residential area. It offers an elegant, comfortable and fantastic service.

Best Western Edinburgh Capital Hotel
An ideal location from where you can explore the historic city of Edinburgh.

The Glasshouse boutique hotel
Behind the facade of an ancient church discovered the clean lines and contemporary Glasshouse, a modern luxury boutique hotel in Edinburgh.

Haymarket Hotel
Beautiful privately run hotel located in the center. These are two beautiful Victorian buildings with great charm and fully modernized, classified as historic category B.

Edinburgh Leisure:
The best pubs in the Old Town, near the Royal Mile and Cowgate. What is more curious to try different malt whiskey. Those who are close to South Bridge usually have live Scottish music almost every night. It is the heart of the City of Edinburgh University, and possibly part of the city that is more lively at night.

Kitchen and bar
The new Scottish cooking can be tested in most of the good restaurants of Edinburgh as Dubh Prais in High Street and The Witchery it occupies a building near the castle, in front of the Camera Obscura, where one is using a very special Edinburgh mechanism of the nineteenth century. Something very strange. In the Café Royal is one of the scenes filmed for «chariot of fire» and still retains an authentic ambience. Now what is more fashionable to go to dinner or lunch at any of the fish restaurants such as The Waterfront in Leith or Skippers frontline. There is another very curious in the port occupying the cellars of a monastery: The Vintner’s. However each month opens new one that is immediately outdated.

Arts, Museums and Festivals:
There are international collections of decorative art, science, technology, natural history, geology and more at The Royal Museum of Scotland, The National Library of Scotland, a treasure house of interesting books and rare documents, while in The Royal Botanical Garden is a unique collection of rare plants, exotic and beautiful around the world.

At the center of the culture we have in The City of Edinburgh Festival Theater, opened in 1994 as a modern concert hall and can see all kinds of entertainment such as opera and theater. Apart from this, there are many theaters and concert halls in the city.

The Edinburgh International Festival began in 1947 and takes place every year in August. Has launched the city into the forefront of the cultural world of entertainment. Known universally as one of the best parties of the art world gets a lot of support from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival which is always innovative and stimulating. There are also frequent film festivals and alternative jazz.

However, there are many festivals throughout the year, the best known and most fun is the traditional festival of Hogmanay. Edinburgh has everything well, with a series of events and festivities which begin on December 30 until the Feast of Hogmanay (December 31) and continued during the new year.
