Hi,
Cali, the third largest city in Colombia is located in the Cauca valley in Western Colombia. It is bordered on the west by the cordillera occidental, or Western Mountain Range and on the east by the Cauca River. It was founded in 1536 by Sebastian de Belalcazar and since then has become a thriving city with an identity all its own.

Colombia has a lot to offer, and foreigners I’ve met here have been very happy with their experience.Specially during the holidays, there’s a lot of police surveillance everywhere. Some precautions are: staying in the big cities, and not going to rural areas, where police presence is reduced. Some popular destinations for tourists (backpackers, mostly) are about an hour from major cities (Tayrona Park has the most beautiful beaches ever, and it’s about 30 min. from Santa Marta.
