The city of Stockholm was founded in the thirteenth century on the east coast of Sweden, where the waters of Lake Mälaren going to give the Baltic Sea. At Old Town (Gamla Stan) was known then as the «city between the bridges.»

Drottningholm Palace: If you decide to travel to Stockholm, cannot fail to visit the home of the royal family. Not surprisingly, Drottningholm has been listed as part of world heritage by UNESCO. It was built after the great fire of 1697, just when it was rescued from the flames the sarcophagus of King Charles XI, and very little else.
At present you can visit the magnificent bedroom of Queen Eleonora the «Kina Slott». This room is an impressive combination of china pagoda palace and recreation. The air of the city is imbued with the cries of the gulls, bars knäckebrot served with fish and a statue of Evert Staubert, the famous singer seaman, resting his eyes on the friendly brindle bustle.
An hour’s drive from Stockholm, Uppsala is considered the historical and religious country. It is a nice option to spend the day with their delicious center dominated by the River. Also include the exciting nightlife that promotes student population of Uppsala.
At the heart of the medieval old town is great Domkyrkan (every day from 8:00 am to 18:00 pm, free admission), the largest cathedral in Scandinavia. Inside, vibrant echoes still impresses. In particular the French Gothic style ambulatory flanked by small chapels, one of which contains a series of beautiful murals that tell of the fourteenth century the legend of St. Erik, the patron saint of Sweden, while in another chapel, the remains are stored.
Other points of interest are the markets of the square and the old market Stortorget Skansen, where you can taste the traditional hot wine with spices, raisins, almonds and ginger biscuits.
